Garifuna Music in Belize
The drive to Hopkins wasn’t long at all, I fell asleep, woke up, and we had arrived to the town of Dangriga. On the first day, we visited the Garifuna museum to learn about the history of the people.
On one of our free days, we even got to go snorkeling through some of the reef in the Keys. I saw lobsters, schools of fish, and beautiful coral reef. We even stopped to to eat lunch on a small beautiful island.
To conclude my last blog and the trip, I have to say I have never experienced anything like this before. It’s almost as if I dreamed this whole trip and resumed my life where I left it when I returned home. I wasn’t much of a hand drummer when I came to Belize, but I can now say that I am. I became a lot more coordinated with keeping rhythm and that is going to play a big role in my return to class this fall. Everything that I learned applied to my life in many different ways. This has inspired me to see what else is out there in the world, and to travel more as my days pass by.
