Ethnicity, Diaspora, and Collective Identity

Students participating in this study abroad program will explore the various distinct cultural populations inhabiting Belize; understanding the history of migrations, what drove various diasporas to Belize, and how distinct cultural identities have survived, thrived, and how they cooperate to build a national identity.

With a foundation of historical and scholarly perspectives of cultural and national identity development, while in Belize structured culture learning will be immersive, experiential, with projects facilitating and supporting intercultural communications and interactions with Belizeans.
